Retreat to the Wilderness, Return to the City!

Retreat to the Wilderness, Return to the City!

This March, 44 Trinity youth and adult volunteers took a weekend retreat to Camp Willow Run in Littleton, NC. In addition to rock climbing, giant swings, and canoeing on Lake Gaston, we went deep into the story of Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River, his testing and temptation in the wilderness, and his return home to begin his ministry with a new group of friends (Matthew 3:13-4:25). Trinity family, we’re thankful to God for your support, and we’re excited to have come home to be in ministry with you!

Go and Make Disciples

Go and Make Disciples

On Easter Sunday Gail Clelland presented the 4th Grade Learning Den with Easter Crosses that she and the Trinity Stitchers had made in honor of Pam Rutledge. Pam had taught the 4th Grade class for thirty years before she passed away in March. What a legacy – just think how many lives she has touched over those 30 years! When her health first began to fail, Pam’s first and foremost concern was her 4th grade class. The Stitchers sent Pam one of the crosses in early March for her to see. Thanks to the Stitchers for remembering Pam – and the 4th Grade Sunday School class – in this most loving and significant way.

Lenten Love Project Outreach

Lenten Love Project Outreach

Once again Trinity reached out to our neighbors during Lent as part of the Lenten Love Project.

This year Trinity’s Asbury Covenant Group took homemade goodies to Fire Station 8 as an extension of Trinity’s ministry to the community. They were much appreciated by the staff of Fire Station 8.

Christian Beliefs Sunday School Class took treats to Tuckahoe Elementary School.

The McClure Bible Study Class took treats to the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad.

Thank you for reaching out to the community! Connect, Grow, Serve!

Holy Week at Trinity

Holy Week at Trinity

Holy Week was filled with significant meaningful events which carried our congregation from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.

From the shouts of “Hosanna!” and the waving of palms on Palm Sunday, we traveled to Maundy Thursday where eighty-four persons came to remember the Last Supper with Jesus and His disciples. A meaningful part of the service was when foot washing was offered to those who attended. On Good Friday the altar was stripped bare as seven scripture passages depicting Jesus’ arrest, trial and death were read. As the sanctuary got darker and darker, one hundred and seventy four people remembered the death of Jesus. One lone candle was brought back to the altar at the conclusion of the service symbolizing the hope of resurrection. The congregation departed in silence.

The joy of Easter morning was ushered in at the 6:30 a.m. sunrise service on Trinity’s front steps. Eighty people attended that service, enjoying the sensory smells of grilled fish – just like the first disciples did on that first Easter morning.

Glorious worship continued at 8:00, 9:30 and 11 with 1187 (!) people in attendance. Tympani and brass accompanied the music at 8:00 at 11 while the praise team led us in beautiful praise music at 9:30 a.m. Trinity’s altar was brilliant white adorned with lilies, lilies provided by our members in memory or in honor of loved ones.

The cross out front, covered in purple during Lent and in black on Good Friday, was transformed into a glorious Easter symbol as persons decorated it with fresh flowers on Easter morning.

The Easter Egg Hunt held after the 11:00 a.m. service was a great success, with Trinity’s front lawn covered in expert hunters of all ages. Following the egg hunt the Easter cross became a popular spot for family photos.

One church member has shared, “This past Lenten season and Easter Sunday were remarkably meaningful. The events leading the congregation along the journey to the Cross this year were profound.”

Continue to share the good news – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

Neon Night

Neon Night

On Friday, March 24, 116 elementary energetic kids showed up around 5:30 PM for the “Neon Night for Kids” event. The fun started on the playground and moved into Trinity Hall for a hot dog meal and a quick lesson on God’s Amazing Light. Then began a fast-paced evening filled with glow-in- the-dark dodge ball, worm races & cool games, making neon slime & other crafts, outdoor soccer and a challenging obstacle course.

The evening ended with the option of watching the incredible “Trolls” movie or other options including flashlight tag and much more. Kids left around 9 PM looking forward to the next sensational Trinity Children’s Ministry event!

Special thanks goes to Elisa Romans for the terrific idea and several dozen parents and other volunteers who spent time decorating for the event, supervising during the event and cleaning up after all the fun was done!
