Trinity invites you to a small group opportunity that focuses on families. We believe that our family is our first church. It is the place where we experience what God is like, whether someone knows they are teaching or not. This gathering is not a program but a place where we share our struggles of parenting and ideas of how to cultivate the home as a place of reading the Bible, praying, worshiping, and doing missions together so that the family can grow together. We’ll read the book “Grow at Home” for eight weeks and share our life. The spiritual growth at home can happen in our marriages by loving our spouses with the love of Christ, and it can occur by teaching, loving, and sharing our faith with our children.
Please contact Rev. Hung Su Lim at hslim@trinityumc.net for more information. The first session begins on Jan. 16, 10:15 a.m., in the library.
As a church family, we are here to partner with you as you raise your youth to seek first God’s Kingdom. One of the most vital ways we do that is through Confirmation. Confirmation is an opportunity for youth to dig deep and learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and part of the United Methodist Church. It is an amazing experience. Youth are often surprised by how much they discover about God and themselves. They also find that they enjoy Confirmation and have fun! At the end of the Confirmation classes youth are presented with the opportunity to decide to confirm their Christian faith.
Confirmation 2022 Update: In light of the surge of Covid cases in our community and the current state of emergency order in Henrico County, the start date of this year’s confirmation class has been delayed. We will begin the classes on February 13, hopefully giving ourselves enough time for the present situation to abate. The new schedule will run through May 15. The exciting news is that registration for confirmation is still open. You may now register for the student class up until Feb. 6. The new schedule is listed below. If you have any questions, while Jenna is on Maternity Leave, please feel free to contact Amy Lenow at avlenow@gmail.com.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously…” Matt 6:33 (NLT).
Survey. Following our listening sessions the Healthy Church Team (HCT) published a survey to receive input from the congregation. We thank everyone who participated and turned in a survey. 165 surveys were filled out and submitted.
Of the 165 responses, 113 or 69% supported our current masking requirements until Henrico county reaches the moderate or low infection rate level as identified by the CDC. 50 responses or 30% supported relaxing them now. 2 responses or 1% did not answer that question.
Of the 165 responses submitted, 93 or 56% supported the current food restrictions. 68 or 41% supported relaxing them. 4 respondents or 3% did not answer that question.
Current Measures. The HCT, meeting in December, has maintained our current covid-19 mitigation measures. It is our hope and expectation and when the current threat of winter/holiday surge has passed we will be able to relax these measures. The current mitigation measures are available on the church website HERE.

You are invited to a new casual Bible Study for this winter. It is called “Keep It Shut” written by Karen Ehman (she did the study “Listen, Love, Repeat” that we did a number of years ago). This will be a chance for us to have a good conversation about what the Bible says about the many ways we are to use our words and the times when we are to remain silent.
There is both a study guide and a book to read for this class. Here are the Amazon links to both. Please purchase both and have Week 1 ready/prepared before our first class on February 7th.
We will be meeting inside the church during these cold winter months with masks on. We are going to wait to start until the beginning of February to give Omicron a few more weeks to peak and hopefully go away! I will get back to you with a room number. The schedule will be Monday mornings at 9:30 AM on the following dates: Week 1: Feb. 7 Week 2: Feb 14 Week 3: Feb 21 Week 4: Feb 28 We will take off March 7th due to private school and college spring break Week 5: March 14 Week 6: March 21
During the weekend of November 12-14 Trinity Students hosted a Fall Retreat at Westview on the James in Goochland.
Thank you to all those who made this retreat possible through providing meals, leadership and the many ways you make youth at Trinity feel welcomed and a part of our church family.
Here’s what some of our youth had to say about their experience on Fall Retreat:
“Well this is my first retreat and it has been everything I needed to know about my life in 2 days. I feel I have certainly grown stronger to God and have obtained a stronger relationship with God and my peers. I hope to keep growing a stronger relationship with everyone in the church community and with God. This weekend has been everything I needed. Thank you for sending us here and I hope to come on more retreats in the future.”
“God has reminded me this weekend that I am not junk. I was created in the hands of a magnificent Creator with purpose and with love. The God of love doesn’t compare me to anyone else. He has a seat for me at his table with my name on it. My worth isn’t determined by my grades, beauty, talents, gifts that God I know loves me beyond measure. This weekend is just what my heart, soul and spirit needed.”
“This weekend has actually been incredibly moving and special because of what we’ve talked about. I have actually been struggling with some serious comparison problems about my body recently and the topics we covered were really heartwarming and relieving. The fact that I’m not alone and that God has a different standard of measurement is so moving for me and it has helped me switch my mindset some. I definitely look at myself through a self-loathing point of view sometimes and learning about humility and how I should replace those self-loving thoughts with thoughts that have humility really got me thinking about how I can change the way I see myself through God.”
God is working in the lives of our youth here at Trinity UMC. Praise God! Thank you for all the ways you support and encourage Trinity Students!
